LANDIS — A Landis man faces assault charges after authorities said he shoved a woman believed to be his girlfriend and her toddler during a domestic disturbance.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Hashon Denez Bell, 27, with misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor child abuse and assault on a child under 12.
Deputies were called to a house in the 500 block of South Vance Street about 9 p.m. Thursday. Someone called to say they could hear yelling in the house.
A man who said he is the father of the woman victim met deputies at Hoke and South Vance streets. He told them that Hashon Bell had assaulted his daughter and his grandchild. Deputies knocked several times on the front door and met with Bell, who they said appeared to be impaired.
According to a report, Bell pushed the woman and her 3-year-old boy. He also grabbed the child by the arm.
The report said that Bell had arrived home intoxicated and starting yelling and calling the woman names.
Bell was arrested. On the way to the magistrate’s office, he became belligerent with officers — cursing and using racial slurs. Bell was not cooperative as officers tried to fingerprint him, a report said.
