With more wind today, the high of 94 might not feel as oppressive, but it does increase the danger of fire.
Today, tomorrow and Saturday will still be code yellow air quality days, as well.
Skies will be mostly sunny today, with southwest wind of 8-13 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy and 68, and southwest wind of 5-8 mph will calm after midnight.
Friday will be mostly sunny and not as hot, with a high of 87. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is possible after 1 p.m. Winds will be west around 6 mph in the afternoon. A tenth to quarter inch of rain is possible, with higher amounts in thunderstorms.
The chance of showers and storms drops to 20 percent Friday night, mostly before 10 p.m. It will be partly cloudy and 63, with west northwest wind at 3-6 mph.
Saturday is Pops at the Post, railroad edition, held in the evening at the N.C. Transportation Museum. It will be sunny with a high of 86 and north northwest wind around 6 mph. The low will be 63, with partly cloudy skies.
Sunday will be mostly sunny and 86. The low will be 62, with partly cloudy skies.
Monday will be a bit cooler, with a high of 83 and sunshine. The low will be 58, with mostly clear skies.
Tuesday will be sunny and 82. The low will be 62.
Wednesday brings a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, but it will be mostly sunny and 85.
