SALISBURY — The Salisbury Police Department issued a citation to a woman for simple possession of marijuana and an open container violation after a check of her vehicle license plate.

The officer noted a strong odor of marijuana when he approached the driver.

Cindy Gisela Garcia-Ortega, 22, of the 300 block of Oakhurst Drive, was cited. Officers determined she had outstanding warrants on charges of simple possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia from September 2018.

According to a report, Garcia-Ortega admitted that she had a THC vaping pen and 4 grams of marijuana in the car. An alcoholic beverage was sitting in the front passenger seat.

Garcia-Ortega was issued a $1,000 secured bond.

• A woman reported a burglary Friday in the 1100 block of Julian Road.

• Authorities on Friday cited a person for possession of marijuana after a stop on Ebenezer Road, Kannapolis.

• A citation for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession was issued Friday in the 800 block of Julian Road.

• A woman reported a physical assault Saturday in a domestic disturbance in the 1300 block of Julian Road.

• Leonardo Soto, 21, was charged with possession of a controlled substance Sunday in the 100 block of Earnhardt Road.

• Anthony Alan Smart, 54, was charged with assault on a female Sunday in the 11100 block of Old Concord Road, Rockwell.
