Trooper: No charges in tractor-trailer, firetruck collision

CLEVELAND — No charges will be filed against the drivers of a tractor-trailer and a Cleveland firetruck after a Wednesday collision on U.S. 70 near Third Creek Church Road.
The firetruck was headed to a house fire on Brown Road in Mount Ulla when the crash occurred.
The tractor-trailer was traveling west on U.S. 70. It was driven by Anthony Chandler, who was driving for Big City Logistics Inc., based in McDonough, Georgia.
The firetruck was traveling south on Third Creek Church Road and was driven by firefighter Brent Mincey.
Mincey failed to yield the right of way and collided with the tractor-trailer.
The firetruck had its emergency lights on, according to an N.C. Highway Patrol report. Trooper D.R. Morgan said Mincey said he was pressing the brakes but the firetruck would not stop.
The crash occurred at 10:04 a.m.
Damage to the firetruck was estimated at $12,000. Damage to the tractor-trailer was estimated at $20,000.
No injuries were reported.
