SALISBURY – The Rowan County Literacy Council was awarded a $3,000 grant by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

The mission of the council is to provide literacy instruction to people regardless of means or ability to pay, to improve quality of life and to advocate for literacy awareness.

The council provides instruction to Rowan County residents of all ages.

Its focus as a nonprofit organization is free and confidential, one-to-one tutoring by trained volunteer tutors.
