SALISBURY — A Salisbury teenager has been charged with sex offenses involving an 11-year-old girl after the girl’s parents reported the incident to authorities.
Ismael Antonio Mejia-Rivera, 18, of the 100 block of South Titan Drive, was charged Friday with felony taking indecent liberties with a child and felony second-degree forcible sexual offense, according to the Salisbury Police Department.
He remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
Investigators said Mejia-Rivera inappropriately touched the girl, who knew him before the assault, police said.
The incident occurred three weeks before the parents reported it to police.
