Patterson Farm named NC Grange Farm of the Year

CHINA GROVE – Patterson Farm Inc. was recently named Farm of the Year by the North Carolina Grange.
The farm was nominated by Patterson Grange for its support of the China Grove community. It will soon celebrate 100 years of farming.
Patterson Farm supports local charities and organizations and is also involved in Operation Clean Sweep for three roads in Rowan County.
Family members include Randall, Nora, Taylor, Madisyn, Doug, Michelle, Claudia, Victoria and Chloe Patterson.
The Pattersons have served in multiple roles in the community. Michelle Patterson is the former chairwoman of the Rowan County Tourism Development Authority and currently chairs the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce ag committee.
The recognition included a monetary award of $150.
The farm has more than 300 vehicles, including pickups, large field trucks, two tractor-trailer rigs, tractors, implements, electrostatic sprayers, spray rigs, buses used to transport workers, delivery vans, forklifts and two Bobcats.
“Patterson Farm Inc. grows 15,000 poinsettias annually in our greenhouses in a large variety of sizes and colors that are custom wrapped,” according to a news release about the award.
The farm partnered with Cabarrus-Rowan Community Health Centers to provide an on-site health clinic for 180 guest workers.
Previous awards received by family members include the Double Gold Star Farm award; a certificate of safety Second Year Gold Award from the N.C. Department of Labor; Agribusiness Council Farm of the Year; Rowan Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year; and Primus Food safety certification.
