Teen killed in Cabarrus discovered in Rockwell

An investigation is underway after a Concord teen was found dead inside a vehicle in Rockwell, Rowan County authorities said.
According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the body of Hunter Hess Howell, 19, of 3400 Rimer Road, was found inside a white Toyota RAV 4, on Friday evening at about 5:30 p.m. at 1099 Lower Stone Church Road.
A person who lived in a nearby area said the vehicle had been there since late Wednesday afternoon. Rowan detectives said the homicide occurred in Cabarrus County and the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating jointly with Rowan authorities.
Subsequent investigative work confirmed the death did occur in Cabarrus County, per Cabarrus County Sheriff’s officials. Cabarrus County officials believe this is an isolated incident with no further threat to the community.
Cabarrus County Sheriff’s officials say they will release additional information as the investigation continues. However, no additional details will be provided at this time.
