Whether by war, gun violence, or illness, the Salisbury-Rowan Choral Society, with Teresa Moore-Mitchell as guest soloist, will present “Hymns for the Fallen,” two free concerts to remember those who died and to comfort those who grieve.
Directed by Hunter Safrit, the first concert is Friday at 7 p.m. at Milford Hills United Methodist Church, 1630 Statesville Blvd. The second concert is Sunday at 4 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 131 W. Council St.
This concert includes two versions of Psalm 23, “Calling My Children Home,” and “Not One Sparrow Is Forgotten.” Dustin Shelton composed a new melody for “Irish Blessing.”
Attendees are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy to be given to children served by Rowan Department of Social Services.
Supported by the Rowan Arts Council and the NC Arts Council, these concerts are funded by the state of North Carolina, the National Endowment for the Arts and Salisbury’s First United Church of Christ Foundation.
