SALISBURY — A 17-year-old was shot this morning when several gunshots were fired into the Pinewood Avenue home he was in with several others. The teen was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem and released later this morning, said Salisbury Police Detective Russ DeSantis.
Salisbury Police officers were sent to the 400 block of Pinewood Avenue just before 2 a.m. When officers arrived, there were several bullet holes in the front window of the home. The suspect or suspects were not on the scene when police arrived. The teen was in his bedroom when he was shot in the thigh.
A police officer applied first aid to the teen until Rowan EMS arrived. None of the other people inside the home, which included young children, were injured. No one from inside the home fired back, DeSantis said. Police investigators believe the shooting was not random. No suspect information was available.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Salisbury Police at 704-638-5333, or Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
