A 15-year-old has been arrested and charged with first degree murder and felony
riot in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old at Concord Mills Mall on Dec. 28, according to the Concord Police Department.
The male juvenile was the second suspect arrested for the shooting, along with his acquaintance Dontae Milton-Black, who was arrested on Wednesday on the same charges.
Concord Police, along with officers from the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Department,
had responded to reports of a fight near the entrance to Dave & Buster’s at the mall. As the officers were responding, reports of gunfire were received. Upon the arrival of the officers at the scene, it was determined that three individuals had been shot. Two male juveniles suffered non-
life threatening wounds, but the third victim, Avenanna Propst of Concord, died at the scene. The investigation is continuing in order to identify other individuals who may have
been involved.
The Concord Police Department thanked officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, especially those assigned to the North Tryon Division, the Shooting into Occupied Property Unit and the Gang Intelligence Unit, for their assistance and support during the investigation.
