SALISBURY — The Rowan-Salisbury Schools Safety Department is launching a new safety practice at schools beginning next week.

In collaboration with other district departments and local emergency services, RSS is starting “Student Movement Drills,” which will allow staff to evaluate the procedures RSS has to move students to another location due to an emergency.

Evens such as power outages, fuel leaks or other natural disasters.

The district will conduct the first of the student movement drills at two schools in the East and South areas next week. Principals will notify staff and parents when the drill is scheduled at their schools.

RSS wants to thank local emergency officials for their work on the drills as well as parents and families.
