High school basketball: Friday’s other girls games

SALISBURY — Salisbury’s girls were still in a ballgame at halftime against Oak Grove on Friday, but a dominant third quarter blew it open.
The Hornets outscored the Grizzlies 17-0 in the third and won the Central Carolina Conference game, 48-22.
Anayia Fulson led the Hornets with 13 points. The senior surpassed 1,200 points for her career.
Freshman Kyla Bryant had 10 for the Hornets. She scored in double figures for the 15th time in Salisbury’s 19 games.
Ranked second in 2A, Salisbury (18-1, 14-0) has won 10 in a row since losing to West Rowan in a Christmas tournament semifinal.
This is the seventh time the Hornets have held an opponent under 30 points.
Oak Grov is 11-9 overall and 6-8 in the CCC.

LANDIS – South Rowan’s girls are getting better.
They led West Davidson at halftime in a Central Carolina Conference game on Friday and were down by three points heading to the fourth quarter.
West Davidson finished stronger and took a 59-47 victory to sweep the season series. West Davidson had romped 52-29 in Tyro.
Sophomore Bethany Rymer scored 17 for the Raiders (4-16, 3-11). Rymer surpassed 500 points for her career.
Mackenzie Chabala had 13 and Madilyn Cherry scored 12. Chabala and Cherry are freshmen.
Haley Lowe scored 22 for West Davidson (12-7, 9-5). Gracy Brame scored 17.

OLIN – Carson’s leading scorer Ellie Wilhelm didn’t score any points on Friday, but it didn’t matter.
Carson can get points from a lot of places, and Maci Cooper jumped off the bench to make five 3-pointers and score 17 points in a 60-30 romp at North Iredell.
Cooper tied her senior high. Carson led 35-10 at halftime.
“We didn’t start great, but then Maci came in and scored eight quick points,” Carson coach Brooke Stouder said. “She got us going.”
Cooper shot 5-for-9 on 3-pointers, while Colbie Perry was 4-for-8 from long range. Carson made 11 3-pointers.
“We shot it a lot better than we have lately and we also had a good defensive effort,” Stouder said. “We shut them out in the second quarter — pitched a shutout. The girls were proud of that. Our press caused a lot of turnovers. It was a good road win.”
Carleigh Perry scored nine points. Lani Isley had seven rebounds, and Taylor Conrad had five rebounds.
Bailey Barzee scored 10 for North Iredell (3-17, 0-6).
The Cougars (17-3, 5-1) are tied for first in the North Piedmont Conference with West Rowan, an overtime winner at East Rowan on Friday.
Carson will get ready for a visit from East Rowan on Tuesday.

Jala Campbell led the Wonders with 17 points. Jaliah Smoutherson had 15, and Jaliyah Simmons added 13.

Aniyah Tate had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Vikings, while Ja’el Miller had 19 points and seven assists.
