Watercolor demonstration next Thursday

Feb. 20 • 6:30 p.m.

The Carolina Artists will be hosting a watercolor demonstration at the club’s monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 20, at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center.
Brandon Henrie, of Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff, will be presenting an introduction to watercolor painting, including a still life demonstration. This meeting is for anyone 18 and over, not just seniors. Visitors are always welcome to attend.

Williams to present Heritage Lecture Series at Hood Seminary

Feb. 22 • 10 a.m.

The annual Bishop Alfred E. and Mrs. Mamie White Endowed Heritage Lecture Series is Feb. 21-22 in the Aymer Center on the Seminary campus, 810 Lutheran Synod Drive. Both events are free and open to the public.

A native of Rockford, Illinois, Eric Williams, PhD, currently serves as the Curator of Religion for the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington, D.C.
His current research examines the meanings of religion within African American history and culture, and the role and influences of African religions in the Atlantic world.

KAA·MaCC launches community speaker series

KANNAPOLIS — The first installment features local author Bernard Davis Jr.
It will be held at the Cabarrus County Library, Kannapolis Branch, 850 Mountain St.
There will be a networking reception at 2:30 p.m. at Editions Bookstore, 217 S. Main St., Kannapolis.

Call to artists: Time for 2020 Spring into Arts Festival

Deadline March 31

CONCORD — The Spring into Arts Festival committee is currently accepting applications for the 2020 festival to take place Saturday, May 9 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in Downtown Concord and is open to artists and crafters in the mediums of jewelry, ceramics, wood, painting, photography, glass, and more.
Download the vendor form and submit check with payment by March 31. Application fee is $85 for a 10 x 10 space. Work should be handmade and the original work of the artist or crafter.
