On Monday, the Horry County Board of Education approved Ben Hampton as the next football coach at Socastee High School in South Carolina.

Hampton, a West Rowan graduate who played football at Coastal Carolina, was the head coach at North Rowan the past five seasons.

He was 42-21 with the Cavaliers and was twice named Rowan County Coach of the Year.
