DENTON — North Rowan’s second-seeded boys handled Uwharrie Charter 57-44 on Wednesday in a Yadkin Valley Conference Tournament semifinal.
North (19-7) got a huge game from Quashawn Carpenter who had 20 points and four assists. Carpenter made four 3-pointers.
“Uwharrie Charter ran a very deliberate offense and laid back in a zone defense,” North coach Jason Causby said. “We showed a lot of poise and patience in taking what was given to us.”
Brandon White had 10 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. Denerio Robinson had 12 points. Kendrell Goodes got six in the fourth quarter.
“A lot of guys played good defense,” Causby said. “We got stops and we got the pace up to where it benefited us. We’re really progressed as this year has gone on.”
Zane Caudle scored 15 for sixth-seeded Uwharrie Charter, which upset South Stanly in the first round.
North advances to a championship game that is scheduled for Friday at South Davidson.
