Blotter: East Spencer man remains in jail after assaulting woman

SALISBURY — An East Spencer man remains in the county jail after being accused of assaulting a woman by placing a handgun inside her mouth and threatening to kill her with it, according to arrest warrants.

East Spencer police charged Jesse Luther, 68, of Heiligtown Road, with felony assault serious bodily injury, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, misdemeanor communicating threats and felony assault by strangulation.

The warrant said the victim, who lives at the same residence, told police Luther punched her several times, causing serious bruising to her face, arms, chest, back and “bleeding on the brain.”

He pointed a gun at the victim, placed the gun inside her mouth and told her he “was going to kill her multiple times,” the warrant said.

The incidents occurred over a few days, from Feb. 14 to Feb. 18, the warrants said.

He’s being held without bond due to the domestic violence nature of the charges.

In other arrest warrants:

• Scarlet Afton Moon, 36, of Gold Hill, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Keene Isiah Cowan, 23, of Ohara Drive, was charged with felony possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon and felony possess/sell/buy/alter gun serial number.

• Scott Freeman Suggs, 42, of Troutman Hill in Kannapolis, was charged with misdemeanor larceny and felony obtaining property by false pretenses.
