MOUNT ULLA — Whitley Arnott pitched a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts as West Rowan’s softball team opened with a 6-0 win against Robinson on Wednesday.
Reagan Haggas homered. Megyn Spicer and Brooke Kennerly had two RBIs each.

Christina Brendle hit two homers to lead Central Cabarrus to a 9-1 win against Carson on Wednesday.
Kary Hales had the only RBI for Carson.

Central Davidson beat Davie 10-1 on Wednesday.
Salem Ward pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Salisbury softball lost to North Davidson 11-0 in 5 innings on Wednesday.
Ellen Yang had the only hit for the Hornets.
Salisbury pitchers allowed only three earned runs in the CCC game.
Riley Lingerfelt struck out eight and was the winning pitcher.
HS baseball
CHINA GROVE — Carson’s baseball team rolled 10-0 in five innings against Northwest Cabarrus on Wednesday.
Ryan Street pitched a two-hitter with three strikeouts.
CP Pyle, Zeb Burns and Caden Hudson had two hits each for the Cougars (1-1).

CHARLOTTE — A.L. Brown lost to East Meck 6-4 on Wednesday in non-conference baseball.
Jaden Johnson had two hits and three RBIs for the Wonders.

MOUNT ULLA — West Rowan won 4-1 against Robinson on Wednesday.
Steven Smith drove in two runs, while Cullen Davis and Colin Hammonds shut down Robinson’s offense.

MOORESVILLE — East Rowan fell to Lake Norman 8-5 on Wednesday.
Charlie Klingler had three hits for the Mustangs (1-1). Wayne Mize had two hits and Blake White had two hits and two RBIs.
YVC basketball
North Rowan’s Brandon White and Denerio Robinson have been named to the All-Yadkin Valley Conference boys basketball team.
Kendrell Goodes was Honorable Mention.
South Stanly’s Sean Whitley was named YVC Coach of the Year, while South Stanly’s Jaquez Cooke was named YVC Player of the Year.

Natavia Taborn was Honorable Mention.
Gray Stone’s Danielle Wertz was YVC Player of the Year, while Gray Stone’s Robert Stack was named YVC Coach of the Year.
NPC basketball
West Rowan’s Macari Allison made the All-North Piedmont conference team. His name was omitted on the list sent out by the league.
HS soccer
West Rowan’s jayvees lost to Central Cabarrus 2-0. Emily Kelly made 13 saves for the Falcons.

Salisbury opened with a 9-0 Central Carolina Conference win against Thomasville on Wednesday.
Sean Archer, Juan Salazar, Will Koontz, Parker Chmiel, Merritt Mason and Bennett Clark won singles matches.

Women’s lacrosse
SALISBURY — Visiting Limestone, ranked 15th, claimed a 17-5 victory over Catawba (1-4) in women’s lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Shuford Stadium.
Catawba travels to Young Harris for a 4 p.m. game on Friday.
College softball
SALISBURY — Catawba lost a doubleheader to Wingate in South Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday at Whitley Field.
Jordan Dean had three hits, including two solo homers, in a 7-2 loss. She hit a two-run homer in a 3-2 loss.
College baseball
Catawba outfielder Lee Poteat (West Rowan) has added regional player of the week honors to his SAC player of the week award.
College basketball
The South Atlantic Conference has three schools ranked in the latest NCAA Southeast Region men’s basketball poll.
Lincoln Memorial earned the No. 1 spot in the poll, followed by Queens at No. 3, and Catawba at No. 5.
The rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA in the championship selection process and will continue to be released each week by the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Committee up to the NCAA Championship selections.
