LANDIS — The temporary closure of Rowan Public Library’s South Rowan Regional branch, located at 920 Kimball Road, has been extended through Tuesday, March 10, to accommodate the repair of a water main break.
The leak was discovered in the late afternoon on March 3, and the town of Landis cut off the water supply, leaving RPL South without water. The break is in a deep pipe that serves the library.
There has been no damage to the building.
“It’s a complex project,” said RPL Director Melissa Oleen. “This temporary closure ensures the safety and well-being of our customers.”
RPL South’s customers are invited to visit RPL East or RPL Headquarters during the closure.
RPL East, located at 110 Broad St. in Rockwell, will be open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and can be reached at 704-216-7840.
RPL Headquarters, located at 201 W. Fisher St. in Salisbury, will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and can be reached at 704-216-8243.
For RPL South customers who simply need to return items, the book drop (located at the front of the building) remains in use.
Patrons who have requested items for pick up at RPL South can change their location of pick up either via their online RPL account or by contacting RPL East or RPL Headquarters at the numbers above.
RPL South is expected to re-open Wednesday, March 11. Any changes to the planned closure and re-opening dates will be posted on www.rowanpubliclibrary.org and on RPL’s social media accounts. Rowan County Facilities Management and Carolina Pipe Cleaning are handling the repairs.
