The Board of Directors of the Salisbury Symphony voted unanimously at their regular monthly meeting last Tuesday to hire Hunter Scott Safrit of Salisbury as the next Executive Director of the Salisbury Symphony, effective July 1, 2020.

The current Executive Director, Bill Bucher Jr., announced plans last November to retire from the Symphony as of June 30, 2020, and the Board of Directors recently concluded an evaluation process resulting in the selection of Mr. Safrit.

Hunter Scott Safrit has been associated with the Salisbury Symphony for more than seven years, first as a student intern from Catawba College, later as a paid assistant and finally serving as the Associate Executive Director of the Symphony since last Fall.

Safrit earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education in the Conducting Cognate in 2016, and is currently a candidate for an MBA from Appalachian State in 2021.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve the Symphony and the communities of Salisbury in this new role,” says Safrit. “I am delighted that I will be a part of creating memorable performances right here in Salisbury for years to come.”
