Blotter: Salisbury party ends in shooting violence, no injuries reported

SALISBURY — Salisbury police say a fight at a party could’ve turned deadly Saturday morning after shots were fired amongst some partygoers in the area of S. West and West Bank streets.

No injuries were reported and several cars were seen leaving the area when the shorts were fired, according to police spokesman Lt. Lee Walker. Police located a 40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in a field nearby and shell casings in the area of the shooting. The cases and gun will be sent for testing, Walker said.

No charges have been filed. Police continue to investigate.

• A traffic stop was initiated on Saturday after an officer smelled marijuana that came from a vehicle in a checkpoint in the 500 block of Brenner Avenue.

• Autum Heilig McClendon, 41, was charged on Friday with felony possession of a controlled substance schedule I while in the 500 block of East Innes Street.

• Someone reported hearing gunshots on Monday morning in the 200 block of Circle Drive and West Henderson Street. Police responded to the area just before 2:30 a.m. Shell casings were seized.
