SALISBURY — Salisbury police and fire investigators are looking into an early Monday morning car fire at a local complex.

“The fire is suspicious in nature,” said Salisbury police spokesman Lt. Lee Walker.

Emergency personnel responded to the Alexander Station apartment complex just before 2 a.m. where they discovered a 2012 Audi A6 on fire. The car was parked at 322 Henry Laurens Circle, located off Sunset Drive and Hamilton Drive.

A neighbor told police he was awake around that time. He said he heard five explosions before he looked outdoors, according to Walker.

The neighbor said when he looked out the window he saw brake lights leaving the area and saw fire in the passenger side area of the car. The Salisbury Fire Marshal’s Office is also investigating.
