SPENCER — A Spencer man who had been reported missing since Wednesday was discovered Saturday deceased inside a vacant home in Spencer, confirmed Spencer Police Chief Mike James.

Robert Allen Baker, 50, of the 800 block of Fairmont Avenue, walked away from 402 Fourth Street in Spencer on Wednesday and had not been seen by his sister since that time.

There was a multi-agency search for Baker on Saturday and the vacant home where he was found was near the residence where he was last seen on foot.

This remains an active investigation pending autopsy results, however, at this time, there is no indication of foul play, according to Chief James. Preliminary results are that Baker died as a result of suicide, Chief James said.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Baker and to the first responders who assisted in the search,” the Spencer police said in a statement.
