CHINA GROVE — A Salisbury teen was killed following a single-vehicle crash Thursday night after her vehicle ran off the road.

Makenzie Leigh Hancock, 19, was traveling on Daugherty Road, headed toward N.C. 152 in a 2005 Ford Explorer, when she ran off the road to the right. She overcorrected and the vehicle overturned several times on the roadway and then came to rest on its wheels on the shoulder. The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m.

Hancock was pronounced deceased by medical personnel on the scene. Speed is believed to be a factor. Alcohol does not. Hancock was wearing a seatbelt, said Sgt. D.M. Morgan.
