SALISBURY — A local nonprofit and two homes are the latest to be targeted by thieves for copper wiring, according to the Salisbury Police Department.
Someone stole a mailbox and two air conditioning units from the back of the building that houses the Pregnancy Support Center, located at 847 S. Main St. The center is located in a building that is owned by Stallings Memorial Baptist Church.
Copper piping was removed from the air conditioning units, said police spokesman Lt. Lee Walker.
The theft was discovered on Wednesday but believed to have been done sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
Also, someone stole copper wiring from an air conditioning unit at a home located in the 100 block of Crawford Street, which is not far from the Pregnancy Support Center. The person removed the unit and cut the wire from it, Walker said.
Recently, thieves also stole copper pipe from an air conditioning unit at another home in the 100 block of Crawford Street, Walker said.
No arrests have been made, but Walker said it’s likely the thefts are from the same person.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
