SALISBURY — Salisbury police investigators say the vehicle who struck Larry Eugene Barber, 59, may have been a work van, according to spokesman Lt. Lee Walker.
Barber, of Salisbury, was riding a moped in the 700 block of West Horah Street, late Friday when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle hit Barber head-on and continued driving down Horah toward South Main Street.
On Monday, Walker said a second witness told police Barber was in the middle of the road when he was hit and that the vehicle was possibly a dark red or burgundy “work type van.” The initial report was that the vehicle was a silver or gold sport utility vehicle. Walker said police suspect that Barber was intoxicated.
