Area Sports Briefs: Catawba golfers all-conference

ROCK HILL — Catawba junior Tanner Bibey has been named second team All-South Atlantic Conference for the 2019-20 men’s golf season as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Lincoln Memorial’s Dan Bradbury was voted the Men’s Golfer of the Year, while Anderson’s Reece Coleman was named the Conference’s Freshman of the Year. Lincoln Memorial’s Travis Muncy was named the Coach of the Year.
Bibey turned in one of the best seasons in school history in 2019-20. He set a school record with a 71.67 stroke average as he completed 18 rounds in seven events. At the Richard Rendleman Invitational, the final event of the season, Bibey took medalist honors with a three-under-par 139 total.
For the season, Bibey had six top ten finishes and set records for rounds in the 60s (5), rounds below par (10) and rounds of par or below (12). He also set a mark with five consecutive rounds at par or below.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The South Atlantic Conference announced its 2020 Women’s Golf All-Conference Teams and Award Winners on Wednesday and Catawba senior Kayley Barts earned second team honors. Lenoir-Rhyne’s Ainee O’Connor was voted the Women’s Golfer of the Year, while Wingate’s Hailey McLaughlin was named the Freshman of the Year. Wingate’s Erin Thorne was named the Coach of the Year.
Barts led Catawba with a 76.64 stroke average over her 14 rounds during seven tournaments. That total was the fourth best season in school history. The senior was medalist at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational in October. In the opening round of that event, Barts set a school record by shooting a 67.
Over her four seasons, Barts managed 13 top 10 finishes in 37 tournaments. Playing 79 career rounds, she posted a 78.05 stroke average which stands second all-time at Catawba.
