SALISBURY — A truck driver who allegedly drove a Food Lion tractor-trailer through an intersection at Heilig and Faith roads, was impaired, said N.C. State Highway Patrol Sgt. J.G. Leonard.

Christopher Jordan Goodman, 34, of Salisbury, was charged with driving while impaired, commercial motor vehicle driving while impaired, operating a commercial vehicle after consuming and a stop sign violation.

Trooper C.K. Ridenhour investigated the single-vehicle crash that occurred Friday around 5:58 a.m.

Goodman initially told the trooper he fell asleep at the wheel. However, according to Leonard, the truck driver had a blood alcohol content that was more than three times the legal .08 limit. A breathalyzer confirmed Goodman’s blood alcohol content was .28, the trooper said.

Goodman ran through the stop sign and ended up in nearby woods. According to the trooper, Goodman was on his way to Hickory to make a delivery.
