I am not sick. I have no symptoms. I have been careful to not be exposed, by not getting close to my grandchildren, not playing tennis, not getting my hair cut, not shopping and not getting together with friends.

Yet, I wear a mask. I am doing it for you — the mask does not protect me; it protects you. Perhaps unbeknownst to me, I am a carrier. I would hate to pass it on to you, which then might affect your child, or niece, or little brother or perhaps your grandmother.

I don’t enjoy wearing a mask. It is awkward and hot. But I am a team player. I want to do my part to curb the spread so our economy can reopen and flourish.

When I take this precaution to protect you and I see you not wearing a mask, it tells me a lot about you. You are self-centered, only caring about yourself, your comfort and your appearance. You are ill-informed, thinking you cause no harm, or perhaps you just don’t care. You are not someone I ever care to get to know because you’d rather help spread an infection that is ravishing our economy than to take a simple precaution that has proven to be effective.

Think about it. Please wear a mask.
