Letter: Some need to give IRS bank information

Would someone please explain to people that it is not your Social Security direct deposit that is used to send your stimulus check?

It is your 2018 or 2019 tax return. If you did not file taxes or get a direct deposit refund, your stimulus check will be delayed.

My husband and I finally figured out that since we had to pay federal tax for 2018, the government did not have our bank account information. I went to irs.gov, clicked on ‘Get My Payment’ and followed the prompts to enter the bank information. Within about six days, we had our money.
