Letter: Difference between military holidays

Published 12:00 am Sunday, May 31, 2020

A friend and I had a conversation recently about the difference between Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day.

I found an explanation that I wanted to share because it includes all who serve/served.

Armed Services Day is for the men in women who currently wear the uniform. It is the third Saturday in May. There is not nearly enough recognition given to this holiday to thank the men and women serving our country in the military.

Memorial Day is for men and women who died wearing the uniform. Thank you to all who have lost their lives in service — the ultimate sacrifice.

Veteran’s Day is for men and women who have worn the uniform. Thank you to all who have served.
