Man hit by Thursday night gunfire

SALISBURY — After hearing shots ring out, a man was hit by gunfire on Thursday in Salisbury.

According to the Salisbury Police Department, the male victim was walking near the intersection of Brenner Avenue and Standish Street around 11:56 p.m. on Thursday when he heard gunshots.

The victim reportedly jumped to the ground due to the shots. Reports state that when he attempted to get up, he realized that he had sustained a gunshot wound.

First responders transported the victim to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center with injuries that were described in the report as non-life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation. If more information becomes available, it will be provided.
