WINSTON-SALEM — Bailee Goodlett became the fifth North Rowan girls basketball player to score 1,500 points in Friday’s non-conference game at Parkland.
Goodlett made a shot in the lane in the first quarter to achieve the milestone. She finished with 25 points to push her career total to 1,517.
She achieved the milestone in a victory as the Cavaliers blew out 4A Parkland 73-35.
North (2-0) had a comfortable 43-16 lead at halftime and went up 40 late in the contest for a running clock.
Parkland (0-5) will play at Salisbury on Monday. North will host strong Albemarle (3-0) on Tuesday.
Goodlett, who had three assists, will move up to No. 3 on the North’s scoring list quickly. Megan Honeycutt (1,555) and Goodlett’s former teammate Hannah Wilkerson (1,589) aren’t too far ahead of her.
North’s top two all-time scorers Sophilia Hipps and Stephnie Cross are among the handful of girls in the county who scored more than 2,000. They are a ways off, but keep in mind that Goodlett scored nearly 800 points as a junior.
Senior Brittany Ellis continued her hot start to the season with 27 points, one short of her career high.
She scored 10 in the first quarter and had 18 by halftime. Ellis made five 3-pointers and also handed out four assists.
Dasia Elder is also shooting the ball extremely well and made four 3-pointers for the second straight game. She scored 14.
Bloom Goodlett added seven points for the Cavaliers.
Kriststyle Stockton didn’t score but had another big rebounding game with a team-high 10.
