ROWAN COUNTY — A fugitive from justice from Virginia was apprehended in Rowan County on Monday after deputies reportedly observed suspicious maneuvers from a gold van.
According to reports from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy at the intersection of Cedar Springs Road and Airport Road noticed a Ford Windstar minivan make a left-hand turn and then an abrupt right-hand turn onto Dana Drive at approximately 2 p.m. The maneuver nearly caused the van to flip over.
After observing the maneuver, the deputy initiated a traffic stop, during which time, they discovered that the van’s driver, Kenneth Meadows II, was wanted in Tazewell County, Virginia, for a probation violation.
Warrants for Meadows’ arrest included extradition efforts. Meadows was subsequently arrested and transported to the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office, where he was eventually placed in the detention center on a $3,000 secured bond for a fugitive from justice charge.
