CONCORD — If you’re going to challenge Robinson’s powerful girls, you’re going to have to play 32 minutes.

East Rowan had a dismal start on Friday, and it was basically over after the first five minutes.  Robinson breezed to a 68-31 South Piedmont Conference victory.

Camri Hobbs buried two 3-pointers early for the home team. Robinson led 12-0 before Mary Church made a free throw to put the Mustangs on the scoreboard.

It was 18-1 before Kady Collins made a 3-pointer for the Mustangs’ first field goal.

Robinson led 42-15 at halftime.

Church made two 3-pointers as East outscored Robinson in the third quarter. East (3-4, 1-3) got back to a 21-point deficit a couple of times, but then the Bulldogs started rolling again.

“We made a pretty good run in the third quarter, but we can’t get down at the start of the game like we did,” East coach Bri Evans said. “But I saw some good things. I think we’re going to be all right.”

Church led the Mustangs with nine points. Savannah Wise scored seven.

Robinson (5-1, 3-0) lost to Charlotte Catholic to start the season but has won its last five games.

The Bulldogs have some guard quickness, but they are keyed by the Hobbs sisters, 6-foot-4 senior post Ella and 6-foot-3 guard Camri. The siblings combined for 43 points against East.

Camri swished four 3-pointers, while Ella blocked shots and was a high-percentage option on offense.
