SALISBURY — Salisbury’s girls basketball team set a record on Friday that may be tied, but never will be broken.

The Hornets allowed zero points to the Thomasville Bulldogs. The Hornets have had a few games in their history in which they have allowed single digits, but nothing like this. The final was 63-0.

Thomasville is going to have a difficult time this season in the Central Carolina Conference. The Bulldogs (0-4, 0-2) scored 6, 8 and 8 in their previous three games. They are averaging 5.5 points per game.

Salisbury didn’t have much trouble scoring in its CCC opener. Shamya Arnold started the game with a personal 9-0 run, with two 3-pointers and a three-point play.

By the end of the first quarter, Arnold had 13 points and Salisbury led 27-0.

“Happy for Shamya, she got out to a quick start, hit some 3s and got out in transition,” SHS coach Lakai Brice said.

It was 45-0 at halftime. The second half was playing with a running clock.

Arnold finished with a career-high 17 points. MaKayla Noble had 15, while Jamyrah Cherry and Torese Evans got 10 each.
