GREENSBORO — At least Carson’s Tristen McBride and Salisbury’s Dashawn Brown can always say they played in the first December East-West All-Star Game.
McBride and Brown were part of the West squad that lost 35-7 in the 76th annual contest.
The game at Jamieson Stadium was moved up a day from the original schedule due to the weather forecast for Sunday.
Alexander Central’s Butch Carter was the West head coach, while the East was piloted by Pine Forest’s Bill Sochova.
The East also won in July, 14-0, in what will be the final summer East-West All-Star Game for the foreseeable future. The date was moved in an effort to get more of the state’s top players into the event.
The East drove for a touchdown on its first possession and never looked back.
Draughn’s Eli Tillery threw a 42-yard pass to Reagan’s Cassidy Harvin for the only West touchdown.
