Jubilee Community Choir presents concert

SALISBURY — The Jubilee Community Choir will present the “Good News, A Savior is Born” for its annual Christmas concert Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church, 306 N. Church St., Salisbury.
Kay Wright Norman serves as music director and principal accompanist.
The concert will include some traditional, well-known carols and spirituals featuring soloists Phyllis Partee, Doris Goodman, Monica Green in “Somebody’s Talkin’ Bout Jesus;” Ethel Bamburg-Revis in “Mary Had a Baby/Joyful, Joyful;” and guest artist Teressa Moore-Mitchell in “He Shall Feed His Flock Like a Shepard” from Handel’s Messiah; Adriane Scott and instrumentalists Galvin Crisp on soprano saxophone in “Sweet Little Jesus;” Jerome Heggins on drums; Stephen Williams on organ and piano; and the Chevalier String Quartet providing additional accompaniment to the choir.
The Jubilee choir is a diverse group of singers representing different churches and denominations that has performed for more than 50 years in the Salisbury/Rowan community.
The public is invited to bring family and friends to join in singing familiar Christmas carols and hear additional music of different composers with various rhythms.
