SALISBURY — A GoFundMe has been set up for the victims of a house fire that destroyed the residence and left the family dog dead.

The GoFundMe was created by a relative of the family.

“My aunt, uncle and their great-grandson lost everything they own except what they had with them,” the post said.

According to the post, the aunt and uncle are both retired and raising their great-grandson, Landon, who is 7.

Tragically, the family dog, Shadow, 11, died in the fire.

“They now have the burden of staying with family, trying to replace belongings and rebuilding at some point,” the post continued. “My uncle is currently wheelchair bound and scheduled to come home from the nursing home on Saturday. We are very thankful that the family was not home during the fire.

“This year has been extremely hard on the family as they also lost their youngest son in February. The need is great, anything you can give financially is greatly appreciated. Please keep this family in your prayers.”

The post indicated that donations could also be mailed to Cleveland First Baptist Church PO Box 325 Cleveland NC 27013 Attn: Goodman Fund.

The fire that destroyed the home, located in the 200 block of Windy Hill Drive, occurred at about noon on Wednesday. The fire reportedly began inside the home and was attributed to a malfunctioning propane heater.
