SPENCER — In a tradition that spans nine years, North Hills Christian School once again demonstrated its commitment to spreading joy during the holiday season.
Nearly 90 students, accompanied by 12 chaperones, recently made their annual pilgrimage to the N.C. Museum of Dolls, Toys, and Miniatures in Spencer. That visit not only provided an opportunity for the students to enjoy a day of exploration and fun but also allowed them to contribute to the Toys for Tots program.
Arbe Arbalez, the Toys for Tots coordinator for Rowan County, expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support from NHCS. A veteran with a passion for giving back, Arbalez initiated his involvement with Toys for Tots during his service in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1985. His unwavering commitment to ensuring underprivileged children in Rowan County experience the magic of Christmas has made a lasting impact on the community.
Each year, the 1st and 5th-grade students at NHCS participate in fundraising efforts for the annual visit. Saving allowances and taking on extra chores, the young philanthropists set aside money for a day of both shopping and giving back. According to Leslie Hinsucker, the proud representative of NHCS, the children saved an impressive $1,500 this year, marking the largest amount ever collected in the history of their involvement.
This year’s visit was particularly special, as it boasted the largest group from NHCS to tour the museum, featuring three first-grade classes and two fifth-grade classes. The students were captivated by the intricate displays, with an unanimous enthusiasm for the trains and miniature houses.
Arbalez noted that the donation and collection from NHCS stood out as the largest pick-up during this holiday season. The generosity displayed by the North Hills Christian School community continues to make an impact, ensuring that countless children in Rowan County will experience the joy of Christmas.
As the holiday spirit fills the air, North Hills Christian School remains dedicated to fostering a sense of compassion, generosity, and community spirit among its students. Their commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others exemplifies the true spirit of the season.
