Blotter for Dec. 19: Three arrested for assaulting father in attempt to take child

SALISBURY — Three people have been arrested after police say that they assaulted the father of a child after the mother attempted to take the child from the home without consulting the father.

The incident began when the mother showed up at the father’s home, located in the 400 block of Union Boulevard, on Saturday and wanted to take their child out of the home. The father attempted to stop her, at which point two men wearing “full facial masks” jumped out of a nearby car and assaulted him, according to a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department. The men also pointed guns at the father. A neighbor saw the incident and attempted to help the man, at which point the mother hit him over the head with a walking cane as well.

Deputies with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office later noticed the suspects driving on Interstate 85. They initiated a traffic stop and arrested all three, taking the child from the car as well.

Christina Carol Rose Hebb, 21, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, breaking and entering a building, child abuse and second-degree trespassing. She was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and given a $20,000 bond, according to jail records.

Wayne Allen Bumpus, 21, was charged with assault by pointing a gun and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and was not given a bond.

DeMaurius Anthony Dunlap, 23, was charged with assault by pointing a gun and assault inflicting serious bodily injury. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center and was not given a bond.

In Salisbury Police Department reports:

  • A theft of a motor vehicle occurred in the 600 block of West Jake Alexander Boulevard at 3:40 a.m. on Dec. 15.
  • Possession or concealment of a firearm occurred in the 700 block of Admiral Drive at 7:25 a.m. on Dec. 15. Police reports indicate that the incident was in relation to a verbal domestic altercation.
  • Tampering with a meter occurred in the 400 block of Brownrigg Road between 5 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on Dec. 15.
  • Dissemination of private images occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 9:33 a.m. on Dec. 15.
  • Shoplifting occurred in the 100 block of South Main Street at 10:50 a.m. on Dec. 15. The total estimated loss was $56.
  • A theft of a motor vehicle occurred in the 200 block of Dan Street between 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 and noon on Dec. 15.
  • A larceny occurred in the 100 block of Polo Drive between 4:42 p.m. and 7:26 p.m. on Dec. 15. The total estimated loss was $200.
  • A hit and run causing property damage occurred in the 400 block of South Jake Alexander Boulevard at 9:03 p.m. on Dec. 15.
  • A theft of a motor vehicle occurred in the 1200 block of Edgedale Drive at 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 15.
  • Credit card fraud occurred in the 300 block of Ashbrook Road between 6:50 p.m. on Dec. 15 and midnight on Dec. 16. The total estimated loss was $105.
  • A larceny occurred in the 100 block of Crawford Street between 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 and 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 16. The total estimated loss was $300.
  • A hit and run causing property damage occurred in the 600 block of Grove Street at 11:23 a.m. on Dec. 17.
  • Desmon Jermaine Torrence, 32, was charged with identity theft; possession of a schedule II controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; resisting, obstructing or delaying a public officer; failure to heed a light or siren; and driving while his license was revoked on Dec. 15. Police reports indicate Torrence was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. During the stop, he provided officers with a fake name before being identified and found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest. Officers also reportedly found narcotics in the vehicle.
  • Jacob Thomas Byrd, 34, was charged with larceny on Dec. 16.
  • Tony Michael Brock, 36, was charged with larceny on Dec. 16.
  • Ashley Lynn Bynum, 36, was charged with felony possession of a schedule II controlled substance, felony possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of up to 0.5 ounces of marijuana and possession on Dec. 17.

In Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

  • Possession or concealing of a firearm occurred at Andrews Street in Salisbury at 3:25 p.m. on Dec. 14.
  • Credit card fraud occurred in the 200 block of North Main Street in Salisbury between 11:44 a.m. on Oct. 17 and 11:44 a.m. on Dec. 7. It was reported on Dec. 14 and the total estimated loss was $2,654.
  • Fraud by impersonation occurred in the 1900 block of Glover Road in Salisbury at 1:24 p.m. on Dec. 14. The total estimated loss was $1,200.
  • Credit card fraud occurred at Old Fields Drive in Salisbury at 3:19 p.m. on Dec. 14.
  • Family neglect occurred in the 200 block of Chiccarello Drive in Kannapolis at 7:50 p.m. on Dec. 14.
  • A theft of a motor vehicle occurred in the 100 block of Hallmark Circle between 3 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 15.
  • A larceny from a building occurred at Briggs Road in Salisbury between midnight and 8 a.m. on Dec. 15.
  • A larceny occurred in the 2500 block of Webb Road in Salisbury at 10:02 a.m. on Dec. 15. The total estimated loss was $15,000.
  • A burglary occurred in the 4600 block of Jack Brown Road in Salisbury between 9 a.m. on Dec. 11 and 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 14. It was reported on Dec. 15 and the total estimated loss was $4,300.
  • Fraud by wire, computer or electronic manipulation occurred in the 1300 block of Country Hill Drive between noon on Dec. 7 and noon on Dec. 8. It was reported on Dec. 15 and the total estimated loss was $9,777.
  • Fraud by false pretenses occurred in the 1200 block of Weatherby Drive between midnight on Dec. 14 and 6:05 p.m. on Dec. 15. The total estimated loss was $24,489.
  • Tyjarell Ladarrius Eberhart, 23, was charged with possession of between 0.5 and 1.5 of marijuana and driving without an operator’s license on Dec. 14.
  • Carson Dennis Tate Jr., 55, was charged with assault by strangulation and sexual battery on Dec. 14.
  • Steven Derrell Daniel, 32, was charged with carrying a concealed gun and failure to yield for an emergency vehicle on Dec. 14.
  • Timothy Jay Green, 56, was charged with defrauding a drug test on Dec. 14.
  • Dylan Michael Hancock, 29, was charged with child abuse on Dec. 14.
  • Craig Lynn Carlisle, 18, was charged with violating the county noise ordinance on Dec. 14.
  • Michelle Gillespie Hester, 56, was charged with displaying a fictitious tag or license plate and driving with an expired operator’s license on Dec. 15.
  • David Wayne Rhinier, 47, was charged with resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer and violation of a 50B order on Dec. 15.
  • Jeremy Terrell Nance, 37, was charged with two counts of assault and battery with sexual motives on Dec. 15.
  • Sasha Cherie Rippey, 33, was charged with larceny on Dec. 15.
  • Cyreeta Nichole Ponder, 43, was charged with second-degree trespassing on Dec. 16.
  • Ronald Eric Stubbs, 59, was charged with assault on a female on Dec. 16.
