LEXINGTON — Central Davidson’s boys basketball team bombed nine 3-pointers in the first half and won easily against North Rowan in Monday’s non-conference game.
The Cavaliers were handed a 73-45 loss. It was 50-23 at halftime, and basically over at that point. The teams traded buckets in the second half.
Unbeaten Central Davidson settled matters quickly, building a double-digit advantage with a flurry of five 3-pointers in the first quarter, including three by Will Beck.
The Spartans (9-0) demonstrated a strong grasp of the ideal modern offense. They shot nothing but open 3-pointers and layups.
Carson Hulsizer (17), Luke Staten (16), Devin Sigmon (12) and Beck (11) scored in double figures for the winners.
North (3-3) got scoring from nine players, Amir Alexander led with 10, while Jayden Polk and Jerrico Charleston had eight each.
North endured a cold shooting night and only made two 3-pointers.
Central will be playing in this year’s eight-school Dale’s Sporting Goods Sam Moir Christmas Classic.
With seeds based on pre-Christmas records, the Spartans could be the No. 1 seed. Central still has two pre-Christmas games left, rematches with West Davidson and Trinity, teams that Central won close games against earlier this season.
North plays a Central Carolina Conference game tonight at Thomasville.
