ENOCHVILLE — Multiple acres were involved in a brush fire that began as an additional structure fire on Friday afternoon.
The fire also involved a grouping of outbuildings and cargo trailers located in the woods behind a home in the 2100 block of Saw Road. By the time firefighters arrived on scene and began the firefighting efforts, the fire had expanded to include multiple acres of the surrounding woods and pasture. Multiple brush trucks from multiple fire departments were called to the scene because of the extension, according to a fire official on the scene.
Nobody was injured in the incident, an official said. The brush fire threatened a neighbor’s home but firefighters were able to contain the flames before the building became involved. The outbuildings were severely damaged by the fire.
Enochville, Landis, China Grove, Kannapolis, Locke, West Rowan Volunteer, Atwell, South Iredell fire departments and Rowan Rescue teams were all involved in the firefighting efforts.
