CHINA GROVE — When the China Grove Town Council convenes for its first regularly-scheduled meeting of 2024 on Tuesday, an administrator with the state’s recreation and park association will be in attendance to recognize one of the city’s own.
China Grove Parks and Recreation Director Jill Sellers is being named as the N.C. Recreation and Parks Association Young Professional of the Year. Michelle Wells, the organization’s executive director will be in attendance to present the award.
Additionally, there will be a public hearing to address East Ketchie Street Townhomes, annexation of a property on Miller Road, a signage ordinance and zoning districts and permitted usage involving landscaping and buffering.
The townhome issue involves a reduction of density from the previously approved (6) townhome units to (5) townhome units due to a survey determining the stream buffer requirements could not be met as previously proposed.
The usage amendment concerns setback requirements for light industrial zoning from 30 feet to 50 feet. Setbacks for heavy industrial would potentially be amended to 100 feet from 50 feet. Language also involves a landscape buffer for light industrial properties when adjacent to single-family residential spaces.
In other council items, the Dale Keiger will be honored posthumously and Sellers will present a schedule of events for 2024.
