SALISBURY — A man waiting in line at Cook Out had his gun stolen out of his holster and police say that another man was shot at by the same gun after pursuing the suspect.
The victim was standing in line outside of Cook Out on Innes Street around midnight on Saturday, when a person snuck up behind him and stole the gun out of its holster, a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department said. The suspect then got into the passenger seat of a car, which the spokesperson identified as a dark colored 4-door sedan, and began to flee the scene.
A friend of the first victim then also got into his own car and began to chase the suspects. Police reports indicate the chase continued to the intersection of Morlan Park Road and Jake Alexander Boulevard, where the person who stole the gun then leaned out of the window and began to shoot back at the friend’s vehicle, according to the spokesperson. The spokesperson said that no one was injured in the shooting and there was no reported property damage. Police reports state that nine shell casings were found on scene and collected as evidence.
The suspect that stole the gun and performed the shooting has been identified by police as a juvenile and the investigating officer is seeking juvenile petitions, the spokesperson said.
