SALISBURY — Police say that the Sonic restaurant on West Innes Street lost more than $4,000 after the manager was robbed at gunpoint at closing time.

The incident began when the manager of the restaurant was counting money inside the business at 11 p.m. on Sunday, a spokesperson for the Salisbury Police Department said. A Black male then entered the building and allegedly displayed a gun towards the manager. The suspect then demanded that the manager put the money they were counting into a bag.

While the manager was placing the money in the bag, the suspect struck them on the head with the gun, the spokesperson said. The suspect then allegedly grabbed the bag and ran off.

Emergency medical personnel provided care to the manager on the scene and his injuries did not require transportation to the hospital, according to the spokesperson.
