Wednesday’s games …
MOUNT PLEASANT — South Rowan’s losing streak in boys basketball stretched to 32 games on the road on Wednesday, although the Raiders made a mighty effort to end it.
South rallied from a double-digit deficit to force overtime before losing to Mount Pleasant, 65-61, in a non-conference game.
South (0-10) trailed the Tigers (4-8) by as many as 16 points in the first half and was down 38-26 at halftime.
But the Raiders made a fourth-quarter run, led by eight points by guard Dalton Young, and tied the game at 55-all on a bucket by Carston Carey with 15 seconds left.
Young led the Raiders with 17 points. Carey tied his career high with 10. Aaron Jones and Zion Jackson scored eight each.
Jones and Drew Blackwell made two 3-pointers each.
“We played better defensively in the second half and we chipped away,” South coach Daniel Blevins said. “It’s coming along. We’re competing.”
