SALISBURY – Emergency personnel rescued a man on Friday after the lift that he was on malfunctioned, pinning his hand under the Chick-Fil-A sign he was working on.
Two men were taking the lift upwards towards the sign when the incident began, a fire official on the scene said. As the lift reached the sign, one of the worker’s hand became pinned between the sign and the railing, at which point the workers realized the controls on their side of the lift had stopped working.
Salisbury Fire Department trucks and Rowan Rescue squads arrived on scene prepared for a potential high angle rescue. Upon further investigation of the lift, emergency personnel found that the controls on the base still worked and brought the lift down.
The official confirmed that the man was treated on scene for the hand injuries and eventually transported to the hospital. The other worker was not injured in the incident.
