College men’s basketball: Livingstone wins at home

SALISBURY — Khyree Temple’s return from an extended absence provided a boost off the bench, and the Livingstone Blue Bears won a CIAA game on Saturday.

Temple contributed 11 points in a 72-67 win against Elizabeth City State at New Trent Gym.

Nathan Montaque scored 16 for the Blue Bears and made two critical 3-pointers in the middle of the second half when the game was see-sawing.

Pharoah Lassiter scored 12, including the layup with 6:29 left that put the Blue Bears ahead to stay.

Teon Tiller also scored a dozen. He went 8-for-8 from the foul line.

Livingstone shot only 37.3 percent from the floor, but the Blue Bears (6-7, 3-2) did make five 3-pointers and they limited turnovers.

Tre Richardson scored 19 to lead the Vikings (4-11, 1-3), who shot 3-for-21 on 3-pointers.
