College women’s basketball: Livingstone can’t finish off Vikings

SALISBURY — Livingstone’s women’s basketball team struggled in the final minutes and lost 55-52 to Elizabeth City State on Saturday.
Livingstone was finally playing a home game in front of 508 fans, but the Vikings spoiled the fun at Trent Gym with a come-from-behind CIAA victory.
Livingstone (2-6, 1-4) led 52-47 after Jamiah Lane made two free throws with 1:36 remaining, but the Blue Bears turned it over down the stretch.
ECSU (8-5, 2-3) made its comeback by getting to the foul line and cashing in. The Vikings had a 27-point fourth quarter.
Alanis Hill broke a 52-all tie by making a free throw with four seconds left. She missed her second attempt, but Livingstone couldn’t secure the rebound.
The Blue Bears had to foul Hill again and she made two more free throws for the final margin.
Hill scored 19 points to lead the visitors.
Thalia Carter scored 12 for the Blue Bears. Morgan Kelson had 10.
